Mayor & The Band is the musical project of Vincent Sheheen, created with Sarah Black and Braxton Ballew of Valentine Wolfe.

The album, Eclectica / Imperfectica, began with a lifelong guitar player finally stepping out from behind the private joy of writing and playing. For Vincent, most songs start on the guitar — a riff, a melody, a pattern that keeps repeating until it becomes something larger. Other times, the music arrives first as a vocal line, the kind that stays in your head for days until the words begin to follow.

Recorded during 2025 at Studio Valentine Wolfe in Greenville, South Carolina, the album brings together heavy rock, blues, Southern rock, 80s metal influence, political commentary, family stories, and quieter reflective moments. It is intentionally eclectic and deliberately imperfect — a human-made record shaped by instinct, friendship, memory, and life.

The songs move between the heavier energy of “Storm,” “Punk Oligarch,” “Cryin’ Salt,” and “Politico’d,” and the more personal, lighter side of tracks like “Morning Sleeper,” “Hands On Me,” “Super Beach Boy,” and “Every One’s The Star.”

At its core, Eclectica / Imperfectica is about the joy of making music without sanding away every rough edge. It is not an AI-polished album. It is a record made by people, with all the noise, feeling, humor, politics, love, and imperfection that come with that.

Vincent Sheheen performs lead and backing vocals, lead guitar, and rhythm guitar. Sarah Black provides co-lead vocals on “Storm,” backing vocals, piano, and keyboards. Braxton Ballew plays bass, provides backing vocals, and handles drum programming.

The album was produced by Vincent Sheheen, Sarah Black, and Braxton Ballew, mixed by Braxton Ballew, and mastered by John Scrip at MASSIVE Mastering in Chicago.
